The Naval Air Warfare Center Training System Division selected Rockwell Collins to design, manufacture and integrate a technology upgrade and modernization to the Submarine Tactical Visual Training System.

Under the Navy Training System 2000 IDIQ contract, Rockwell Collins provided new and updated Instructor Operator Station (IOS) capabilities and new tactical controls and displays, which provide a continuous 360 degree field-of-view during periscope operations.

Rockwell Collins will integrate the STVTS Device with the U.S. Navy's new Phase II Submarine Multi-Mission Team Trainer over a High Level Architecture (HLA) interface. Rockwell Collins's teammate, Diamond Visionics Corp, Vestal, NY, will provide the PC-based image generator and the digital display unit to be integrated into the overall Submarine Tactical Visual Training System.
