The F/A-18 "Hornet" is a single- and two-seat, twin engine, multi-mission fighter/attack aircraft that operates from aircraft carriers or land bases. The F/A-18 is a fighter escort that offers air superiority, suppression of enemy air defenses, reconnaissance, forward air control, close and deep air support, as well as day and night strike missions for the U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

Rockwell Collins provided the baseline of the F/A-18 Hornet platforms with Head Up Displays (HUD), Head Down Displays (HDD) and ARC-210 multiband radios. As the aircraft has evolved, our products and capabilities have played an important role in both maintaining the existing equipment and participating in upgrades for the fighter. A significant portion of the improvements include the addition of the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System, color HDDs, HUDs with video capability and multiband radios that support data links.

As the OEM for this solution, Rockwell Collins continues our significant position in helping preserve existing equipment and participating in modifications. Today we are in the process of offering additional upgrade packages, while continuing to support the program with our award winning Performance Based Logistics.
