Rockwell Collins IFIS selected for Bombardier Challenger 300 upgrade

ORLANDO (November 09, 2005) - Bombardier Aerospace has selected the Rockwell Collins Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) for its Challenger 300* flight deck, which will be incorporated into the existing Pro Line 21 avionics suite. The IFIS upgrade with single file server unit (FSU) and electronic charts enabled, will be available as a factory option for aircraft delivered from the first quarter 2007 until it becomes standard equipment in late 2007.

"IFIS will give Bombardier Challenger 300 operators significantly enhanced situational awareness, especially during the high workload phases of flight," said Denny Helgeson, vice-president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "The bottom line benefits include improved flight deck operational efficiency and enhanced aircraft value."

Rockwell Collins IFIS enables such advanced capabilities as electronic charts, graphical weather (XM satellite broadcast as well as interactive request/reply from Universal Weather), and enhanced map overlays. A second FSU with associated applications is also available as an option and enables "paperless" operations.
