Rockwell Collins selected for KG-3X Cryptographic Modernization Program
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (September 30, 2005) - Rockwell Collins has been selected by the U.S. Air Force for Phases II, III and IV of the KG-3X Cryptographic Modernization
program, taking the program from system design completion through low-rate initial production and full-rate production & deployment.
KG-3X Cryptographic Modernization is designed to provide the U.S. military with assured, survivable, protected and highly
reliable strategic communications for airborne portions of the Minimum Essential Emergency Communications Network (MEECN)
as well as the Fixed Submarine Broadcast System (FSBS).
Rockwell Collins was selected in June 2004 to perform the program's Initial System Development and Demonstration phase. The
contract has a potential value of $70 million over the life of the program.

KG-3X units are used in the MEECN and the FSBS for strategic transmission of Emergency Action Messages. The contractor effort
for the follow-on production phase of the KG-3X program will include replacement of up to 476 units.
