Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 selected for Navy UC-12 King Air fleet upgrade

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 16, 2005) - ARINC Engineering Services, LLC has selected Rockwell Collins' Pro Line 21 integrated avionics system to upgrade the Navy's fleet of UC-12 King Air aircraft. ARINC serves as the purchasing and installation agency for the program, and L3 Communications is the prime contractor.

"The Pro Line 21 Integrated Avionics Architecture will provide the Navy with an unparalleled operational platform, enabling the Navy to continue its important UC-12 mission into the 21st century.  The Proline 21 upgrade is aimed at solving critical parts availability and long-term avionics sustainment issues with the current UC-12 avionics architecture," said Steve T. Mensh, chief program manager for the USN UC-12 Avionics Upgrade Program for ARINC Engineering Services, LLC.

"Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 system offers the Navy's UC-12 King Air program the best solution for enhanced efficiency and functionality in the flight deck and reduced pilot workload," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins.

The Pro Line 21 integrated avionics package includes three 10x8-inch high-resolution, liquid crystal adaptive flight displays. Additional Rockwell Collins features include:
-- The FMS-3000 provides advanced flight planning and navigation capabilities, including synchronized lateral and vertical flight plans, time and fuel planning and graphical map support.
-- The GPS-4000A Global Positioning System (GPS) sensors provide satellite navigation for en route and terminal phases of flight, including the ability to perform GPS non precision approaches. 
-- The Pro Line 21 CNS communication, navigation and surveillance sensors support the transition from voice to data communications and enable operators to meet new regulatory and operating requirements.
-- The TWR-850 Turbulence Detection Weather Radar
-- Dual AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference Systems feature new solid-state digital quartz gyro technology for improved reliability and a lower cost of ownership.
-- Dual-channel Automatic Flight Control system.
-- Dual ADS-3000 Air Data Systems.
