FedEx Express Selects Rockwell Collins Multi-Mode Receivers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 13, 2001) - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx Express), the world’s largest express transportation company, is installing the Rockwell Collins GLU-920 Multi Mode Receiver (MMR) into its entire fleet of Boeing MD-11 aircraft and a portion of its Airbus A310 fleet. The implementation brings advanced Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) capability to the FedEx Express fleet to meet next-generation air traffic management requirements.

The Collins GLU-920 MMR is an integrated unit that provides the aircraft’s primary position, velocity and time reference, and enables precision landing capability. It offers Instrument Landing System (ILS) and high integrity Global Navigation
Satellite-based positioning for navigation and future landing functions, and offers growth to Microwave Landing System capability. The Collins MMR can meet future air traffic management requirements while offering commonality across fleet types.
