Rockwell Collins Offers New Audio Distribution System on PAVES®
IRVINE, Calif. (September 06, 2001) - Rockwell Collins is offering a universal Audio Distribution System (ADS) to its PAVES® Airbus and Boeing single-aisle aircraft
customers. This system allows airlines the ability to provide up to 300 passengers with 22 digital audio channels.
The new universal ADS for Airbus and Boeing customers reduces weight and power consumption, and allows for common components
across a mixed fleet of aircraft. In addition, passengers now have the interactive capability of backCHANNEL® , which allows
them to use the system for personnel entertainment and games.
"This universal ADS system reduces the cost of ownership for airlines with mixed fleets by reducing maintenance costs while
maintaining market-leading audio quality," said Graham Macdonald, vice president of marketing and strategic management, Rockwell
Collins Passenger Systems. "This underlies Rockwell Collins’ commitment to developing products to maintain the market-lead
position in the single-aisle aircraft market."
Rockwell Collins Passenger Systems produces cabin management and in-flight entertainment systems for over 100 commercial airlines
around the world. The organization employs approximately 1,400 people at its facilities in Irvine and Pomona, California.
