United States Coast Guard Expands Contract with Rockwell Collins; Collins Aviation Services Selected to Provide Additional
Falcon Jet Maintenance Repair
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (September 30, 2002) - Rockwell Collins has been selected by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to provide additional avionics maintenance repair
and technical support on its HU-25 Falcon Jet fleet.
Collins Aviation Services (CAS) will provide performance based logistics services, including spares management and maintenance,
repair and technical services on a fixed price-per-flight-hour basis for the USCG's fleet of 17 HU-25s. Under the six-year
agreement, CAS will provide the USCG with guaranteed logistics performance on a fixed-price basis. The HU-25 is used to perform
critical search and rescue missions in addition to law enforcement and drug interdiction patrols. Currently, CAS provides
similar support for the USCG's fleet of 93 HH-65 Rotorcraft.
"Collins Aviation Services was selected because it is the only firm who can provide the reliability improvements that are
essential for the performance of the avionics system," said Commander William Mello, HU-25 Product Line Manager for the USCG.
"This type of program provides the total life cycle value needed to manage support costs in an environment of tight budgets."
Collins Aviation Services' global network of more than 60 locations provides repair and overhaul of avionics equipment for
commercial, business and military operations. Additional logistics capabilities include on-board services, service parts,
training services, technical information services, and technical services.
