Rockwell Collins expands Huntsville operations
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (August 15, 2008) - Rockwell Collins today announced the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art 30,000 square-foot operations center strategically
located in the Cummings Research Park. This facility, which represents the combination of multiple divisions into one location,
further enhances Rockwell Collins' accessibility and responsiveness, and provides a single face to customers in the Huntsville
region.
"The staggering growth of the aerospace and defense industry in Alabama is redefining the economic development profile of
the state," said Alabama Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom, Jr. "Rockwell Collins is one of the most respected companies in American aerospace
and I am excited to join them in celebration of their new world-class operations center in Huntsville."
Lt. Gov. Folsom joined Rockwell Collins executives and local officials Friday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house
at the new building.
The new facility highlights the ongoing expansion of Rockwell Collins' engineering, integration, simulation and training,
and product testing and support capabilities in the Huntsville community. Currently, Rockwell Collins has about 40 employees
in Huntsville, and the new facility and expanded capabilities will attract more than 100 new high-skilled jobs to the area.
"We are excited to expand our services and become a larger part of the community in Huntsville," said Kent Statler, executive
vice president of Rockwell Collins Services. "With our expansion, we will be able to provide total life-cycle solutions to
the many aviation, missile and space-related organizations and companies in the greater Huntsville area."
Evans Quinlivan, board chair for the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, said the area is rife with growth opportunities.
"We are very excited to have a company of this caliber decide to expand in our community. Aerospace and defense continues
to be our primary industry target and Rockwell Collins' decision to locate a new facility in Cummings Research Park allows
the company to be closer to many of its customers," Quinlivan said.
