Avianca Airlines selects Rockwell Collins avionics for 38 aircraft
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 21, 2007) - Avianca Airlines has announced it will equip 38 new aircraft with an expanded suite of Rockwell Collins avionics. The national
flag air carrier of Colombia will include a MultiScan Hazard Detection™ System in their order. Delivery is scheduled for early
2008.
Rockwell Collins' award-winning WXR-2100 is the first and only radar that analyzes and determines actual weather hazards,
not simply atmospheric moisture content. MultiScan is a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar system with more than four
years of operational experience that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected
turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.
Other products to be supplied to Avianca include: HFS-900D HF Data Link Communications System, CPL-920D HF Coupler Unit, and
RDMI-743 Radio Distance Magnetic Indicator. Avianca Airlines is the first airline founded on the Americas and main airline
of Colombia (South America).
