Rockwell Collins to provide image generator for AVCATT program

ATLANTA (May 09, 2007) - Rockwell Collins has been selected to provide the EPXTM-50 image generator as part of a visual systems upgrade for the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) program.  L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training, prime contractor on the AVCATT program, will serve as lead systems integrator for the upgrade effort.

Rockwell Collins' EPX-50 image generator provides realistic scene fidelity, image quality and high performance using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) computing technology.

"We believe EPX-50 is the perfect fit for the AVCATT program," said Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Simulation & Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "EPX-50 is designed to provide best value while being easily upgraded as new advancements in consumer technology emerge."

AVCATT is a mobile, transportable, virtual simulation training system designed to provide Army aviation the capability to conduct realistic, high intensity, task-loaded collective and combined arms training exercises and mission rehearsals.  The system allows pilots to train and rehearse through networked simulation in a collective and combined arms simulated battlefield environment.
