Sichuan Airlines selects Rockwell Collins avionics, in-flight entertainment

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (November 21, 2006) - Sichuan Airlines has expanded its relationship with Rockwell Collins by selecting an avionics package and Programmable Audio Video Entertainment System (PAVES®) for 12 Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, with an option for 10 additional aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June 2007.

"Our relationship with Sichuan Airlines has grown substantially," said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. "We look forward to continued growth by delivering the proven capabilities of our weather radar, sensors and data link avionics."

Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager, Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins added, "We are very excited to bring a new level of in-flight entertainment for Sichuan's fleet of Airbus aircraft with our PAVES product line."

Rockwell Collins' WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Detection System is a key feature of the avionics package. MultiScan is a fully automatic radar that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by reducing unexpected turbulence encounters. MultiScan provides optimal weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen by Sichuan Airlines includes the ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Frequency System, CPL-920D Coupling Unit and the VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio.

Previously Sichuan Airlines selected the same avionics package for four new Airbus A319 aircraft which began deliveries in 2004.

PAVES provides Sichuan with overhead video on new 10-inch retractable liquid crystal displays featuring wide viewing angles and crisp, bright picture quality. The system offers 22 channels of high-fidelity digital in-seat audio programming. PAVES enables airlines to automatically provide passengers a variety of entertainment options throughout the flight.
