Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 selected for Cessna CJ4
ORLANDO (October 16, 2006) - Cessna, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has selected Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics as standard equipment for
its new CJ4 aircraft. The CJ4 is scheduled to enter into service in 2010.
"Being selected for the CJ4 speaks volumes about our close working relationship with Cessna and their confidence in our ability
to deliver best-value solutions," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems
for Rockwell Collins. "Our Pro Line 21 avionics will enhance situational awareness for CJ4 operators while reducing size,
weight and power consumption."
The Pro Line 21 avionics suite on the CJ4 features four eight-inch by 10-inch active matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCDs)
in a portrait configuration. The system includes Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 CNS radio suite, integrated radio tuning, integrated
Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS), weather radar and Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS).
The avionics suite is designed to provide a new level of flight crew situational awareness, operational efficiency and dispatch
reliability. The system is capable of supporting ADS-B applications, Controller Pilot Datalink Communications - a potential
growth technology, and WAAS LPV approaches, as well as RNP Special Aircraft and Aircrew Authorization Required operations
down to 0.3 nm.
Rockwell Collins IFIS enables such advanced capabilities as electronic charts, graphical weather (XM satellite broadcast as
well as interactive request/reply from Universal Weather), and enhanced map overlays. A second FSU with associated applications
is also available as an option and enables "paperless" operations.
The EICAS system provides engine indication and aircraft system messages. The Crew Alerting Messages (CAS) can be displayed
on the multifunction display (MFD) for normal operations or on the primary flight display (PFD) in reversionary mode. In addition,
the messages can be displayed in combination with engine indications, maps, charts or checklists, thereby furthering operational
flexibility.
