Rockwell Collins IFIS certified for Cessna CJ1, CJ2

ORLANDO (November 09, 2005) - Cessna Aircraft Company is offering a Rockwell Collins Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) retrofit program, which has been certified for in service Cessna Citation CJ1 and CJ2 aircraft. IFIS is integrated with the CJ1 and CJ2 Pro Line 21 avionics system.

"With the certification, operators of Cessna's Citation CJ1 and CJ2 can now take advantage of the improved cockpit management, and enhanced situational awareness provided by IFIS," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins.

Rockwell Collins IFIS enables advanced capabilities that include electronic charts, graphical weather and enhanced map displays, providing enhanced situational awareness and flight deck management.

The system's electronic charting functionality provides operators with approaches, procedures, airport diagrams and Notice to Airman (NOTAMS).  Operators of Pro Line 21-equipped aircraft have access to the appropriate charts and aircraft position may be viewed on geo-referenced charts, improving situational awareness. The charts are enhanced through proprietary graphics and color pallets designed to improve readability, especially at night.

Rockwell Collins' IFIS enables operators to receive XM WX Satellite weather images and services for viewing directly on the cockpit display.  XM WX Satellite weather is a cost effective US based system featuring Graphical NEXRAD with aircraft position and animation; Echo Tops and movement; METARS; SIGMETS; textual AIRMETS and TAF.

The system's enhanced map overlays increase situational awareness on the flight deck.  These overlays include geo-political boundaries, restricted and controlled airspace, and high- and low-level airways.

Central to IFIS is the Rockwell Collins File Server Unit (FSU), integrated with the Pro Line 21 system's active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) multifunction displays using an Ethernet network. The system's easy-to-use, graphical interfaces are designed to reduce complexity and improve efficiency. The FSU supports more than two gigabytes of data with growth to 16 gigabytes and features an Ethernet port for faster and more convenient software/database uploads.
