AirAsia signs service agreement with Rockwell Collins
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (July 07, 2005) - AirAsia has selected Rockwell Collins to provide service and support for the Rockwell Collins avionics on its new fleet of
Airbus 320 aircraft. Under the 15-year agreement, Rockwell Collins Aviation Services will provide AirAsia with maintenance
support at a set price per flight hour, billed on a single monthly invoice.
“Rockwell Collins Singapore Service Center is well-positioned to provide the support that AirAsia requires for its new aircraft
fleet,” said Harry Gregory, senior vice president and general manager of Rockwell Collins Aviation Services. “This guaranteed
performance contract establishes a value model for other carriers in the Asia region.”
The first of AirAsia’s 60 A320s, covered in this agreement, will enter service later this year. The airline has the option
of adding an additional 40 aircraft under an amended contract. AirAsia, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is one of the fastest
growing low-cost carriers in the region, with partnerships in Thailand (Thai AirAsia) and Indonesia (AWAIR).
AirAsia's Chief Engineer, Azhari Dahlan, commenting on the award of the long term agreement said, “AirAsia is delighted to
