Rockwell Collins to integrate and market new 3-D maps and satellite TV system with General Dynamics YES! system

SEATTLE (September 21, 2004) - Rockwell Collins and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems have signed a marketing agreement to integrate and jointly market Rockwell Collins’ new moving map product and multi-region satellite television system with the General Dynamics YES! In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system.

In the coming months, the two companies will integrate Rockwell Collins’ Airshow 4200i 3-D interactive map product and Tailwind 560 TV system at each seat of YES!-equipped aircraft.  The products will be demonstrated at WAEA in both the Rockwell Collins booth (#901) and the General Dynamics booth (#609).

“We are excited to offer our next-generation interactive map product and Tailwind 560 system to our airline customers,” said Tim Rayl, senior director, Airshow Systems for Rockwell Collins.  “Our products are designed to support whatever IFE solution that our customers select.”

“By working with Rockwell Collins, we are able to offer our customers four of the more significant content offerings such as 3-D interactive maps and flight information, connecting gate information, real-time text news, sports, and weather, and live satellite TV,” said Dale Linder, director of cabin electronics for General Dynamics.

Because the seat displays in the YES! System are built with high-performance PC drives, Rockwell Collins will be able to integrate the Airshow moving maps product as a fully interactive application that also includes high-end 3-D graphics.  Passengers traveling aboard YES!-equipped aircraft will be able to view the new 3-D route maps, flight information, real-time news feeds from Airshow Network, connecting gate information, and points-of-interest libraries at their seats.

Rockwell Collins’ Tailwind 560 TV system delivers up to 32 channels of live, digital content to the aircraft.  Programming content is region-specific, and can include a variety of live news, finance, sports, weather, family, and educational channels, in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.

The new map and television content will supplement the wide range of programming available with the General Dynamics YES! System, which includes movies, music, games, instant messaging, Internet and E-mail.
