NLX receives delivery order for the EA-6B ICAP III Maintenance Training Unit

STERLING, Va. (January 15, 2004) - NLX, a Rockwell Collins company, announced today that it has received a delivery order under the Navy Training Systems Contract (TSC) from the NAVAIR Training Systems Division, Orlando, Fla., to develop and produce a “Next Generation” Maintenance Training Unit (MTU) supporting the EA-6B ICAP-III configured aircraft.

The MTU device will be installed and operated at the Naval Aviation Maintenance Training Group Detachment at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.

Under this delivery order NLX, teamed with Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Systems Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare Systems (AEW/EW) business unit, will design and produce a high fidelity avionics maintenance training system.  The system will be used to accomplish initial qualification and career level training for maintenance personnel on the Navy’s premier airborne electronic countermeasures platform.

ICAP-III is the latest in a series of technology updates and capability enhancements to be incorporated on the EA-6B weapon system. The MTU will provide a simulated and highly realistic training environment supporting normal and degraded systems operations, fault isolation, troubleshooting and repair of the complex communications, navigation, sensor, avionics, and electronic warfare systems employed by the EA-6B.  The 24-month development and integration program will be completed at the Sterling, Va., facility.

NLX, acquired by Rockwell Collins in December 2003, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of training and simulation systems and related support services used by military and commercial organizations.  www.nlxcorp.com
