Rockwell Collins' Pro Line 21 Continuum Achieves Additional Certifications; Avionics Upgrade Continues to Gain Market Acceptance Among Operators

NEW ORLEANS (December 12, 2001) - Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Continuum avionics have received U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification on a number of aircraft types and are being installed on several more, bringing the total number of current retrofit programs to eight.

Collins Pro Line 21 Continuum provides next-generation avionics capabilities for current-technology flight decks. Built-in versatility allows operators to select the level of capabilities desired while maximizing life cycle cost improvements. Designed to support changing airspace and operational requirements, the avionics may be applied in a number of flight deck configurations based on operational requirements. Operators may choose between integrated systems or individual products including LCD flight displays, data communications, and advanced flight management and hazard avoidance capabilities.

Installations currently underway include the Challenger 601 and Falcon 50. The fully integrated systems for these aircraft feature four 10 x 8-inch LCD Adaptive Flight Displays, FMS-6000 Flight Management System, AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference System, TCAS-4000 Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System, TWR-850 Turbulence-detection Weather Radar and Collins Pro Line radio sensors.

The system received certification on the Citation III in October 2001. This installation, like the certifications on Gulfstream II/IIb and III, and Challenger 600 aircraft, features the Collins FDS-2000 5-inch LCD Flight Display System. Designed as a functional replacement of conventional flight director indicators, the FDS-2000 provides current-generation aircraft with advanced operational capabilities, including weather, traffic and terrain avoidance and FMS navigation maps.

The Collins AHS-3000, TCAS-4000, TWR-850 and Pro Line radios are also included in the Gulfstream and Challenger 600 installations. Fully integrated Pro Line 21 Continuum systems provide advanced capabilities that increase performance and ease pilot workload, including data communications, up-linked graphical weather and 3-D FMS planning maps. The system also supports such future functionality as enhanced mapping, electronic charting and improved terrain awareness, further increasing crew efficiency and situational awareness.
