Integrated Guidance Systems joint venture to provide guidance system for Army program

WASHINGTON (February 27, 2008) - Integrated Guidance Systems LLC (IGS LLC), a Honeywell International and Rockwell Collins joint venture, has been awarded a subcontract to provide the deeply integrated navigator for the U.S. Army Non-Line of Sight-Launch System (NLOS-LS) program.

The initial contract calls for IGS LLC to develop guidance systems for the NLOS-LS Precision Attack Missile (PAM) and Container Launch Unit (CLU). Deliveries are expected to begin in 2009, with potential quantities of up to 30,700 PAM and 900 CLU systems being delivered over the next 15 years.

"The combined strengths of Rockwell Collins and Honeywell have allowed us to provide the Army with very small, low-cost, highly precise navigation and guidance systems for NLOS-LS," said Lee Vetter, president of IGS LLC. "Our solutions will help the Army meet its munitions guidance needs for years to come."

IGS LLC provides new guidance offerings made possible through the combination of Rockwell Collins' military Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver technology and Honeywell's Micro Electronic Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and navigation processing technologies. Through a highly integrated physical architecture and tightly coupled GPS-IMU signal processing techniques, these technologies increase navigation accuracy in GPS jammed or denied environments.

"The NLOS-LS program offers us the opportunity to showcase our best-value solution and facilitate the successful development and fielding of this critical warfighter capability," said Bob Whitcraft, IGS LLC vice president of Business Development.

IGS LLC's intellectual property and depth of design and manufacturing talent enables affordable, modular solutions for its customers. In addition to innovative development capabilities, IGS LLC also offers world-class, high-volume manufacturing facilities and a worldwide customer support infrastructure. Spiral development hardware configurations have been extensively tested and successfully flown over the past five years.

While IGS LLC offers a new integrated series of guidance products, both Honeywell and Rockwell Collins will continue to offer their existing Micro Electronic Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) products that are used on current precision weapons.
